MCERTS-approved wastewater sampling equipment from Aquamatic of Manchester, England, is on its way to Gibraltar, where it will be used to sample discharge from the effluent treatment plant (prior to release to the sea) at the new Slop Oil Reception and Treatment Plant.

Operating pollution containment facilities for use in shipping, industrial, oil recovery, tank cleaning, salvage, sewage pumping, and agriculture applications, Slop Oil has invested in Aquamatic’s stainless steel Aquacell S320H Wastewater Sampler to provide samples for its own monitoring purposes and for Environment Agency inspections. In response to accelerating political and social demand for effective pollution containment, Slop Oil’s recently upgraded facility includes powerpacks, portable pumps, oil treatment plants, and water treatment mechanisms.

Mark Hooper, Operations Manager at Slop Oil, and also the company’s Biochemist, said: “We offer a new, state-of the-art wastewater treatment plant at the Port of Gibraltar, producing a water discharge that meets or exceeds IMO requirements, so we required a Wastewater Sampler that was in keeping with our very high standards“.

He added: “As well as reliability and service, we noted that Aquamatic had championed the Environment Agency’s drive towards stringent performance criteria and certification by becoming the first UK company to gain MCERTS for its entire range of Wastewater Samplers”.

Aquamatic’s S320H Wastewater Sampler, part of its comprehensive new MCERTS-approved range, has been fitted for Slop Oil with a x12-bottle glass Bottling System, Ancillary Signal Connection & RS232 Interface. It is also designed with room for mounting additional effluent monitoring equipment.

Aquamatic’s Managing Director, Jeremy Smith, added: “We are very pleased to be working with Slop Oil and are greatly encouraged by the clearly far-reaching effects and reputation of MCERTS”.

Aquamatic’s new MCERTS-approved, S300 Wastewater Sampler Series is capable of housing a wide range of single and multiple container configurations in its large, fully insulated, refrigerated lower compartment.

Before its MCERTS accomplishment, Aquamatic also became the UK's first wastewater sampler manufacturer to gain E-32compliance.  It followed this by becoming the very first wastewater sampler manufacturer to receive a coveted Environment Agency Monitoring Certification Scheme MCERTS from SIRA Certification Service (SCS).

Based on ISO and EN standards for monitoring and equipment testing, inspection, product certification and personnel competency, MCERTS effectively replaced the E-32 benchmark.

Demand for maintenance soars as Aquamatic report 20% increase in service packages Demand for maintenance soars as Aquamatic report 20% increase in service packages
04/04/2008

The water industry’s increasing keenness for true, long term equipment reliability has been highlighted by Wastewater Sampler Manufacturer Aquamatic, who report a 20% increase in business during the past 12 months for its maintenance division; the third consecutive year of growth.

According to the Manchester firm, the boom in customers requiring service packages is also due in part to the industry’s enhanced understanding of the benefits that a well maintained Wastewater Sampler can bring.

Aquamatic’s Managing Director, Jeremy Smith explained:  “Our Wastewater Samplers have become an increasingly critical piece of plant equipment.  They can make a world of difference to operational efficiency, effluent costs and potential reputation-damaging fines”.

He added:  “The trend towards preventative maintenance provides peace of mind and accurate cost budgeting.  Who better to provide this service than us, the manufacturer. It makes perfect sense”.

Fresh from signing two new maintenance contracts with its major water company customers, Smith reports that most wastewater sampler users opt for a minimum of twice per year equipment service, depending on the frequency and nature of the sampling application.

Aquamatic’s growth in this area also reflects the increasing demand for maintenance to be included as part of the package when customers purchase samplers from the company’s comprehensive range – all of which is MCERTS approved.  The range includes the new S300 Stationary Wastewater Sampler Series, capable of housing a wide range of single and multiple container configurations in its large, fully insulated, refrigerated lower compartment.

Aquamatic Wastewater Sampler is just the right ingredient for Cereform Aquamatic Wastewater Sampler is just the right ingredient for Cereform
14/10/2008

Cereform, the market leader in ingredients for the baking industry, has introduced an MCERTS-approved Wastewater Sampler from Aquamatic to help it maintain high environmental standards and reduce its effluent costs.

Part of AB Mauri, a division of Associated British Foods plc, Cereform find ingredients and technical solutions for bakers, utilising considerable volumes of water in the process of  making dough conditioners, cake mixes, donuts, icings and soya.

Wastewater samples are collected automatically by the MCERTS-approved Aquamatic Aquacell Sampler, which with two self-emptying 4.5litre Collection Vessels makes it ideal for when sample shots are taken continually but are not always required for analysis. This enables Cerform to benefit from ongoing collection of daily composite samples, but without the requirement to dispose of the previous days samples.

Peter McHugh, Senior Engineer at Cerform, commented:  “ For controlling effluent  disposal costs and enhancing the high standards we seek across all aspects of our manufacturing, Aquamatic’s Wastewater Sampler is proving a very valuable  addition”.
