Working in partnership with the UK Water Industry to deliver SECTION 82 COMPLIANCE

Since 1991 Aquamatic Limited has been a key supplier of automatic wastewater sampling equipment to the UK water industry and municipal / industrial operators throughout the world.
The need for good quality water / wastewater monitoring is critical whether at the inlet or outlet of a wastewater treatment plant, at a riverbank or in the laboratory. It is well recognised that water and wastewater analysis can only ever be as accurate as the samples being presented to the testing instrumentation, unrepresentative samples equals unrepresentative and inaccurate results. Due to the natural unpredictability of wastewater / river water, extracting a representative volume for testing purposes is not simple. Consequently, our equipment is designed to give customers the ability to collect accurate and representative samples which can be presented for analysis to whichever instrument, sensor or analyser they choose to use.
Of equal importance to accurate sample analysis, is evidence gathering i.e. ‘What happens when instrumentation detects a real time pollution event in an effluent stream or watercourse?’, in these situations validation of sensor data is another critical area where automatic Samplers are used. Event triggered sampling allows users to not only validate sensor readings but also collect and retain physical evidence on demand, potentially for subsequent independent analysis.
All Samplers in our range are MCERTS Certified meaning they comply with strict UK Environment Agency performance standards and can be relied upon as a very effective sample collection and delivery mechanism for water or wastewater monitoring applications.

What challenges will Section 82 compliance bring?

Section 82 of the Environment Act is a River Monitoring programme being introduced to provide real time monitoring of water quality, both upstream and downstream of selected wastewater treatment plants, combined sewer overflows and other specified outflows (assets).
It is a step change in UK environmental policy and brings a raft of challenges to the UK Water Utilities. Along with it will be an unprecedented required investment in not only water quality monitoring equipment, but also in installation, data collection, service and maintenance along with negotiated land access.

How can Aquamatic help?

We can provide a variety of solutions:

  • ‘Need a reliable sample delivery mechanism for your water quality monitoring system?’ Every model in our range is MCERTS certified and will reliably draw representative samples, of accurate volume, from the watercourse and deliver it to your instrumentation for analysis, therefore ensuring optimal accuracy of data.
  • ‘Looking for a means to validate your water quality sensors?’ Our MCERTs certified range of Samplers can collect samples on demand, allowing you retain physical evidence, when needed, to validate your sensor data in the laboratory.
  • With three decades of experience in cabinet building and assembly, we can work with sensor partners to build and supply Section 82 pumped monitoring stations to the customer’s specifications. Contact us to discuss your requirements and how we can help deliver a fully assembled solution.
  • By working with the sensor partners and the end customers, our team of trained field engineers can provide commissioning and ongoing service, maintenance, and calibration of your Section 82 pumped monitoring stations.
